David
Hackett Fischer/ Paul Revere's Ride
[ send
me this paper ]
A 5 page summation and analysis of the major themes from
historian David Hackett Fischer's book, "Paul Revere's
Ride." In this book, Fischer sets the record straight
concerning the famous ride, and argues convincingly that both
Paul Revere and British General Thomas Gage played larger
roles then recent historiography acknowledges. No other

Emergence
of Liberalism in the United States
[ send
me this paper ]
This 12 page report discusses the various societal and
cultural dimensions, especially in terms of political
ideology, that served as the framework for the emergence of
liberalism in America in the late 18th century and the first
half of the 19th century. The liberalism that emerged in
America during the 19th century was the product of many
different currents of thought or "cultural
dimensions" that had developed over the approximately 100
years between the American Revolution and the Civil War. The
origins of liberal ideas conflicted with the established
practices of republicanism and resulted in a certain degree of
conflict regarding the importance and the actual definition of
democracy. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Equality
for All?: The Failure of the American Revolution to Obtain
Equality for Either African Americans or Women
[ send
me this paper ]
A 5 page contention that the American Revolution, and indeed
the years following that revolution, did little toward
changing the inequalities which existed in this country in
regard to African Americans and women. Notes that while
certain inroads would be made in the years which followed,
even the Emancipation Proclamation and the rights of women to
vote and own property, accomplished little in terms of
achieving true equality. Concludes that it took the Civil
Rights movement of the 1960s to result in any real change but
that even today true equality has yet to be obtained.
Bibliography lists 5 sources.

From
Revolution to Independence: The Dependence on Great Men
[ send
me this paper ]
A 3 page contention that ever since the Revolution of 1789 the
French have exhibited a tendency to look to 'great men' to
restore order and tranquillity after moments of great
political or social upheaval. Notes that this tendency is
really not that uncommon, however, for people who have lived
under a monarchy or even a dictatorship. Summarizes that this
tendency can been noted in practically every country that has
achieved its independence at some point in recent history and
provides examples from Russia and the United States in support
of that claim. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

George
Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison: Views on
Powers of Government and the Two Party System
[ send
me this paper ]
A 5 page discussion of the political views of these three
founding fathers. Suggests that a debate between Washington,
in particular, and modern day political scientists would
reveal many differences. Although admittedly our government
has become considerably more complex over time, Washington
would undoubtedly still hold to his viewpoints of limited
government powers and as to the dangers of a two party
political system. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
