The
Lewis and Clark Expedition: Purpose, History and Impacts on
Native America
[ send
me this paper ]
A 25 page discussion of the Lewis and Clark expedition of the
early 1800s, that infamous expedition sponsored by the
U.S.government in order to procure information about the lands
to the west of the Mississippi River. Traces the route of the
journey providing a chronological account of its progression
and numerous quotes from the expedition journals. Contends
that while the expedition would prove to be of tremendous
benefit to the United States, and indeed be characterized by
almost exclusively peaceful interactions to the Native
Americans encountered along the way, it would have an
underlying agenda of economic gain. This agenda would
ultimately translate into an exploitation of the natural
resources in the region and in an adverse impact to the
cultures of the Native American peoples. Bibliography lists 12

The
Lincoln Assassination / Booth Was Not Alone
[ send
me this paper ]
An 8 page research paper supporting the theory that John
Wilkes Booth did not work alone when he assassinated President
Lincoln. The writer connects Booth to a group of conspirators
who planned to assassinate Lincoln, Secretary of State Seward,
and even the Vice President. By developing this connection and
relating these individuals to interactions with Jefferson
Davis, the writer suggests that Booth did not mastermind the
assassination plans. Instead, Davis and members of the
Southern political climate planned and supported the
conspiracy that Booth only enacted. Bibliography lists 7
sources.

[ send
me this paper ]
This 8 page report discusses the seven debates that took place
between Senator Stephen A. Douglas and Abraham Lincoln during
the 1858 Illinois state election campaign as among the most
meaningful and definitive statements for that period of the
political history of the United States. Douglas, a member of
Congress since 1843 and a nationally prominent spokesman for
the Democratic party, was seeking reelection to a third term
in the U.S. Senate, and Lincoln was running for Douglas's
Senate seat as a Republican. It was the content and the
processes associated with the debates that first brought
Abraham Lincoln to the attention of the general public.

The
Modernization of America
[ send
me this paper ]
This 5 page report discusses the issues faced as the
population of the United States began to become more aware of
itself in terms of a nation of people with collective
interests and goals. In addition, as the entire world began to
modernize, the U.S. faced new concerns regarding how the
nation would continue to develop and expand. Whether or not
America was as modern as it could be was one concern while
another was that traditional ideals and beliefs were
threatened by modernization. The question addressed in the
paper is whether the United States of 1860 should be thought
of as "modern." Bibliography lists 5 sources.
