Business Case for Gymboree Entering France
A 19 page paper assessing whether
Gymboree should enter the children’s clothing market in France. Founded in 1976, the
company already has expanded into Canada, the UK and Japan. The French market is
dominated by Petit Bateau, which manufactures most of the most popular French lines
available. GapKids has operated 40 stores in France since 1993 and has been highly successful. Gymboree
has experienced recent inventory and stock value difficulties but appears to have brought both under
control. The paper evaluates financial results, corporate culture and marketing strategies, and
concludes that Gymboree should indeed enter the French market. Bibliography lists 9
sources.
