Canadian Elementary School System

A 15 page paper focusing on the Canadian elementary education system. Each of Canada's ten provinces controls the educational process within their region. Shrinking budgets and poor student performance in some areas have led to a change in how educational decisions are made. Provincial governments have taken more control in many areas by developing and mandating specific curriculum and achievement standards at each grade level. The government has also dramatically decreased the number of school boards and in one province, school boards have been eliminated completely. There are significant changes in the government of schools. These changes are discussed. Examples of curriculum standards are given. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
