Donald Creighton’s “The Empire Of The St. Lawrence”

Creighton (1956) manages to produce a highly readable account not only of the facts surrounding the historical development of the St. Lawrence area, he also incorporates the attitudes and positions of specific stakeholder groups to contribute a new perspective on the reasons underlying the importance of the St. Lawrence to the economic development of 19th century Canada.
