Iran's Influence on the Cold War in 1979

The Cold War between the West and the Soviet Union (USSR) was at it's height in 1979, the year in which the Iranian Revolution took place. The revolution shifted the balance of power in the Middle East, which in turn impacted on the attitudes and actions of the superpowers. The writer looks at why the events impacted the Cold War.
